January

Sun 2nd Jan:  Female Merlin on the fields behind Beeston weir, 2 Stonechats on fence posts by Holme Pit
Tue 4th Jan: Short Eared Owl and 23 Snipe in the Barton Flash area
Sun 9th Jan: Short Eared Owl again in the set aside area near Barton Flash. 4 Goldeneye, 20 Goosander 0n the river by Barton Island
Wed 12th Jan: - Short Eared Owl showing well in the set aside near Barton Flash.
Sat 15th Jan: 3  Short-eared Owls in the area of Barton Flash this morning also10+ Corn Buntings feeding on the set-aside. 
Fri 14th Jan: Short Eared Owl and pair of Stonechat in the Barton Flash area. 3 Buzzard over Branshill wood.  5 Grey Partridge and 30 Golden Plover in field facing Branshill Wood. 
Sat 22nd Jan:  Skein of c150 Pink-Footed Geese over Clifton Grove 9.35am heading west. 2 Common Stonechat and 1 Tree Sparrow in fields behind Holme Pit. 6 Goldeneye on river Trent.
Sat 29th Jan: 4 skiens of pink-footed geese over Clifton Grove between 12.00 -12.20pm all heading west ,over 1000 birds in total. Also 5 Common Buzzard displaying over Clifton Wood
Sun 30th Jan: Shelduck and Snipe near Cottages Flash, 2 Buzzard over Branshill Wood 1 Goldeneye on the river.
Mon 31st Jan:  4 Pink footed Geese in the fields with the Herd of Mute Swans S/W of Barton-in-Fabis.


February

Tue 1st Feb:  Oystercatcher and Stonechat in the sheep field near Cottages Flash. 2 Grey Partridge in field facing Branshill Wood.
Wed 2nd Feb:Male Stonechat on the Gotham to Clifton Road.
Sun 6th Feb: 2 Jack Snipe and  6 Common Snipe on Barton Flash this morning also the 4 Pink-footed Geese still in the field withe the Herd of Mute Swan at Barton-in-Fabis.
Sun 13th Feb:  Water Rail [Holme Pit], 2 Stonechats behind Holme Pit, 1 Stonechat near to the weir.
Wed 16th Feb: mixed flock of 40 Goldfinch and Siskin feeding in Alders near to Holme Pit. Lesser spotted Woodpecker in Clifton Village churchyard.


March

Sun 13th Mar: 2 Oystercatcher in the field around Cottages Flash.
Sun 20th Mar: 15 Sand Martin over the river near Barton Flash also 1 Shelduck. 2 Chiffchaff singing around the Clifton Wood area. 
Wed 23rd Mar: 3 Wheatear in the fields near Cottages Flash. 7 singing Chiffchaff in Clifton Grove.
Thu 24th Mar:  9 Sand Martins over the river near Cottages Flash and 2 Oystercatchers in the area. 1 Warbler Willow and 6 singing Chiffchaff Clifton Grove. Male Wheatear in the field opposite Branshill Wood.
Fri 25th Mar:  Little Ringed Plover on Cottages Flash this morning also 2 Oystercatcher. 1 Little Egret seen fly into the Heronry in Branshill wood but later flew off towards Attenborough.
Mon 28th Mar: Common Tern seen flying down the river from Beeston Weir. 2 Oystercatcher and 45 Sand Martin on the river near Barton Flash.
Thu 31st Mar: 200 Sand Martin and 3 Swallow over the river near Beeston Weir. 1 Oystercatcher and 2 Shelduck near Barton Flash.


April

Fri 1st Apr: Red Kite reported passing over Barton heading towards Ratcliffe power station approx 17.00hrs. 2 Curlew seen flying past Barton Flash and 3 Short-eared Owl in the set-aside area near Barton Flash. 
Sat 2nd Apr: 20+ Waxwings Clifton on Greencroft stayed for about 30 mins at around 6.30pm 
Sat 2nd Apr: 2 ChiffChaff and 1 male Blackcap. Goosander on the near Clifton Bridge. 
Sun 3rd Apr: 10 Waxwings still in Clifton on Greencroft. 
Sat 9th Apr:  Wheatear in fields opposite Branshill Wood plus 6 Swallow and 6 House Martin in the area.1 Whitethroat near Holme Pit.  singing Willow Warblers, Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs throughout the Grove and Clifton Wood. 1 Yellow Wagtail near the yellow gate
Sun 10th Apr: 5 Waxwings still on the Berrie tree on Greencroft, Clifton Estate.


May

Fri 6th May: 2 Oystercatcher and 6 Yellow Wagtail in the field near Cottages Flash. White Wagtail on field opposite Branshill Wood.
Fri 6th May:  Grasshopper Warbler heard reeling in brambles at the back of Beeston Weir also 5 Sedge Warbler, 1 Garden Warbler and 1 Lesser Whitethroat in the area. 
Fri 6th May: 2 Whimbrel seen flying over Barton-in-Fabis towards Attenborough. Raven seen over Ratcliffe on Soar Power Station. 5 Egyptian Geese, 2 Shelduck on Cottages Flash 
Sat 7th May: 2 Whinchat  in the set-aside near Branshill Wood. Cuckoo, 3 Swift and Hobby seen over field behind Holme Pit and 4 singing Sedge Warbler.
Wed 25th May: 2 Little Egret observed mating in Heronry in Branshill Wood at 07.30.Then flew off towards Barton 09.05.


June

Sat 4th Jun:  singing Grasshopper Warbler behind Holme Pit also 15+ Tree Sparrow and 1 singing Corn Bunting.
Sun 12th Jun: Peregrine over Clifton Wood. 2 Common Buzzard Branshill Wood. 5 Tree Sparrow , 2 Yellow Wagtail & Corn Bunting near Beeston Weir
Sun 3rd Jul:  Singing Corn Bunting and Yellow Wagtail, feeding young near Beeston Weir
Sun 3rd Jul: Two Adult Common Buzzard with juvenile near Branshill Wood.
Sat 30th Jul:  Marsh Harrier reported from Clifton Pastures/Gotham Moor.


July

Sat 7th July: 7 singinging Corn Bunting along Barton Lane this morning


August

Fri 12th Aug:  adult Mediterranean Gull seen on the river next to Clifton Bridge.
Tue 16th Aug:  2 Juvenile Turtle Dove on telegraph wires behind Holme pit, 1 Hobby hawking dragonflies on Holme Pit.
Tue 23rd Aug:  Hobby at around 16.10 chasing finchs on Clifton Pastures near the housing estate.


September

 Fri 9th Sep: adult Mediterranean Gull again on the river near the Fairham Brook outlet near Clifton Bridge
Wed 21st Sep: 2 Sand Martins, 5 Tree Sparrows (Barton Island), 
Sun 25th Sep: Water Rail heard calling at the Holme Pit and 45 Mistle Thrush feeding in field behind the pit was a excellent sighting.  
Sun 25th Sep: Female Goldeneye  near Barton Island early morning. Peregrine and 3 Buzzard over Branshill Wood.


October

Sat 8th Oct:  Common Sandpiper feeding on the steps of Beeston  also 1 Grey Wagtail and 1 Kingfisher.
Sat 22nd Oct:  6 Stonechats (2 male/4 female) on fence post on the track between Beeston Weir to Clifton wood, also 2 Common Buzzard in the area and 1 Water Rail on Holme Pit. 32 Fieldfare and 6 Redwing over Clifton Wood.


November

Thu 3rd Nov:  Barn Owl seen hunting over fields and verges next to the A453 near to the Barton-in-Fabis approch Rd 
Fri 11th Nov:  Lecoustic Black Headed Gull seen on fields near Barton Flash.
Sun 13th Nov:  2 skeins of Pink Footed Geese over Clifton Grove at 10.00-10.30am heading S/W 350+ birds in total. 5 Stonechats in the area, 2 by Beeston Weir, 2 on track from the weir to Clifton Wood and 1 on Mill Hill.. Good numbers of Siskin and 2 Lesser Redpoll in alders behind Clifton Wood. 
Thu 17th Nov: 4 Snipe and 12 Corn Bunting near Barton Flash.
Sun 20th Nov:  female Snow Bunting feeding in newly ploughed field near Beeston weir at 2.30 pm, it was last seen flying over the trent towards Attenborough and couldn't be relocated. Also 25 Corn Bunting , 70+Linnets and 19 Tree Sparrows feeding in the same area. 2 Stonechats on fence posts behind Holme pit and 4 calling Water Rail on Holme pit.


December

Sat 10th Dec:  2 Lesser Redpoll and 32 Siskin feeding on alders in the Alder Plantation. 9 Corn Bunting on the ploughed field near Beeston Weir .
Fri 23rd Dec:  3 Hawfinch behind Clifton Wood, in trees near the Alder plantation showing well at times, sat in tree tops on the edge of the ploughed field. Also 1 Brambling, 5 Siskin, 2 Lesser Redpoll and large numbers of Goldfinches feeding on the alder trees and feeders.
Mon 26th Dec: 50+Lapwings on the ploughed field near Beeston Weir. 2 Stonechat and 8 Tree Sparrows in the area.
Mon 26th Dec:  1 male Brambling in the Alder plantation behind Clifton wood, also 4 Siskin on the Alders. 3 Stonechat near Beeston weir, 1 Water Rail on Holme pit.
Mon 26th Dec:  2 Water Rail calling on Holme Pit this morning. 4 Stonechat in the Beeston Weir/Home Pit area.
Fri 30th Dec: 6 Corn bunting  and 25 Yellowhammer in fields near Beeston Weir. 3 Short-eared Owl and 2 Stonechat in the set-aside behind Barton Flash.
